The competition intensifies...Here is co-captain Chet's gripping account of last night's BIG trivia victory:

With a last-second, off-balance, fading three pt. shot from beyond the key (nothing but net), the combined Hercule Poirot / Hiccups team (renamed HERCULE POIROT - after Agatha Christie's Belgian sleuth) claim a victory ag. 8 other able-minded teams. We did so in the final (double pt.) round, on a tiebreaker with Team Clam Banjos.

Needless to say, we r off to a roaring start ! Here r the standings after one week for our pub (6 weeks to go 'till the Bay Area Finals - around 310 teams competing).

Pls. put HERCULE POIROT on your calendars for upcoming Mondays @ Monaghan's @ 8pm (Pierce/Chestnut - public parking nearby -- easy-squeezy). No food though so arrive stoked (gastronomically and intellectually).We have a $50 certif. for booze @ Monaghan's for next time so we will keep u seeped in cheap chablis and Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR).See u next week @ Monaghan's @ 8pm (note: we need music knowledge people in particular).
