***This year we are going to be working with some charities as a part of Hillbilly Haiku. We celebrate artists of conscience by striving to be a series of conscience. This month, we ask you to help the homeless of the streets of Nashville by bringing a pair or pairs of socks to donate to a myspace friend's project, B LOVE. http://www.myspace.com/blovefoundation Its hard to keep warm when your feet are wet and clean dry socks are a small way to help those without a roof this winter. This is only a request and you are free to participate or not as your heart leads you. Thanks to Tonya Watts and Chelle Rose for walking the walk.
Recently, Rick and I traveled to Reston, Virginia and saw Krista and Dave at the house concert of our friend Willa. We took my sister and her husband for their first house concert. My sister bought 13 CDs to give as holiday presents, need I really say more? Krista plays keyboard and sings incredible original songs in a voice like a hot toddy. David accompanies on guitar, harmony vocals, and shares stories of his days as a catcher in a trapeze act. And if we are really fortunate, maybe we can persuade him to render us a song on the musical saw! I'm thinking Tennessee Waltz, but if you have a request please add it in the comments at the bottom of this page.

Krista is coming to Nashville to play the Bluebird Cafe on January 16 and we are lucky to snag her for our first house concert of 2008. Here are but a few of the accolades she has received:
"I dreamed I walked down a mahogany-walled corridor out an open screen door into the moonlight, out into a corn field, and I heard this cello playing... only it was not a cello at all, it was Krista Detor, singing songs about a life I'd lived before and forgotten. Krista's voice
remembers..." -Doug Lang, Singer Songwriter
"..A small miracle… wonderful, intensive music.. she would be good on every stage in the world.." -Rolling Stone
"If God's very favorite angel got sick of His shit, smoked a pack of Reds, drank some Jack and Gate-crashed a piano bar, this is how she would sound. Krista's voice is two parts holy and one part hussy, perfectly complimented by expert piano work that will leave you wrung-out but ready for more. I can't say enough about this super-dope soul out of the Indiana outback, she's the TRUTH!" -Ace Ha, Producer
"Referring to Krista Detor ever again as a "singer/songwriter" will not work. It is not enough at all. As a writer of stories in song, we have no recollection of your equal. As a singer of your own (or anyone else’s) songs we can imagine no equal. As a purveyor of emotions via piano, anything more would be too painful in its connection to our hearts and souls…" -Fred Munroe, Musica Del Rio
"Krista Detor has a stunning voice, evocative without being overly emotional, and the stage presence to deliver the full intent of her lyrics to the audience… seeing her light up the room reminded me why I host concerts…" -Miner Seymour, Old Settlers Inn
"(She) sings like an angel on the Angel of Death playing Russian Roulette with the Grim Reaper over tea and brandy. Alternating anesthesia and a cold scalpel down the belly, Detor takes names not prisoners..."
-Slats Klug, Composer, Performer
