You are cordially invited to attend this month’s

First Sundays at the Chateau

Please join us for a lovely spring evening filled with wine, art, music and friends! Visit the Chateau at 2412 Iowa Street anytime after 6pm on Sunday, May 3 to enjoy:

  • Art opening for Lawrence artists Jouvelt and Friends
  • Live music provided by local band The WiseAcres
  • Wine Tasting provided by Handcrafted Wines and Cork & Barrel
  • By The Glass Specials on our featured wines

Please note that there is no cover to enjoy the art opening or live music, and our bartenders will be serving up the same great mixed drinks, martinis and signature shots you have come to expect from the Chateau – so if the wine doesn’t interest you, don’t let that keep you from coming!

The cost of the wine tasting is $15 in advance/$20 at the door.

Please email chateau-events@sunflower.com to pre-purchase your wine tasting tickets.

The following wines will be included in the tasting with special By the Glass prices at the bar:

2007 L'Ecole Nº 41 Columbia Valley Semillon - Washington

Remarkably brilliant with rich fruit and balanced acidity, this wine shows fragrant citrus blossom, tangerine and floral aromas, with melon, fresh apple, pear, lychee nut and key-lime flavors on a honeysuckle mineral-rich finish.

2008 A to Z Pinot Blanc - Oregon

Steely yellow-gold color with aromatics of lemon curd and chamomile. On the palate, the wine blossoms into flavors of golden peaches, vanilla custard and clover honey, finishing clean, crisp and fresh. A fine balance between the restrained alcohol, bright acidity and subtle natural sweetness of slow-ripened fruit.

2007 Zolo Torrontes - Argentina

This wine presents fullness in fruit with high notes and style from this noble grape; it finishes crisply, lingers for minutes in the mouth.

2005 Vina Falernia Carmenere Syrah - Chile

After aging in barrels and stainless steel the wines has been blended just 3 months before bottling. Bright and deep colour. The wine shows a good fruit concentration and on the nose black pepper, red fruit, dark chocolate. Great body with soft tannins on the palate.

2007 Lange Willamette Valley Pinot Noir – Oregon

This wine is approachable and fruit - forward upon release. It showcases a gregarious bouquet of cherry- cola, clove, and slate, with appealing plum, candied cherry, mixed berry and orange peel on the palate. With an expansive and broad mid-palate of complex fruit and refined tannins, this wine owns the requisite structure to be lively and vivacious.

2003 Beaucanon Trifecta – Napa Valley, California

A swirl of this deep garnet wine releases elegant aromas of spicy berries, leather and sweet alcohol. The palate is bright with youthful acidity, highlighting flavors of blackberry, black cherry, cocoa with a generous amount of toasted coconut contributed by the American and French oak. Tannins are grippy and the finish is amazing.
