WHAT: BBQ
WHY: The 5th of July is a very important day:
-Venezuela's independence from Spain (1811)
-The invention of the bikini (1946)
-Algeria's independence from France (1862)
-French invasion of Algeria (1830)
-SPAM introduced to hungry lunchmeat shoppers (1937)
-Cape Verde's independence from Portugal (1975)
(And, of course, the day before, some straggly colonists on the East Coast fought off those tyrannical tea-totaling Brits [1776].)
WHERE: Oakland, (Rockridge) 6029 Hillegass Ave. (just a few blocks from the BART station)
WHEN: Saturday (July 5th), 2-6pm
BRING: Something to grille, some thing to drinke (we'll make some appetizers and maybe desert, and mojitos)
WHY?: Because you know you love bikinis, SPAM, and Independence (from Spain, France, Portugal, and the Brits.)
WHY NOT: You might have already RSVPed to someone else's SPAM-independence-bikini-barbecue.
