TALK DETAILS:

It all starts with setting the goals. Response time for the end client is good foundation. Do not look at average response time. Look at 99 percentile one. Factor in performance affecting factors – your performance goals may vary depending on user action, country and other factors. Focus on requests which do not match response time requirements rather than average request. Find out if it is Backend or Front End performance issue – we will show how to do it with Open Source tools. When we will show how to analyze what exactly can be the bottleneck on the Front End and client side and how to instrument backend in a way to point to exact parts of the process needing attention. We also will show how you can estimate how different optimization may affect your end goal and so how you can prioritize them.
