CULTURAL GLIMPSES OF INDIA 2009
5-8 pm on Saturday, Nov 14th, 2009
Chiles High School Auditorium
(see below item list and sequence)
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE START TIME HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM 4 PM to 5PM.
We were forced to change the start time because a large number of participants have school related commitments that will occupy them until 4 pm.
The later start requires us to proceed at a quicker pace of events. We would like to request participants to be backstage 3 items prior to their event to enable us move through the items in a timely manner. Please remember that the program WILL START @ 5 PM SHARP.
Snacks will be sold on site ? we will not be pre-selling any snack coupons this year. Multiple serving counters will be available to speed up the distribution process. This year in addition to the samosas and pizzas, we will have gulab jamun available for 2 for $4. PLEASE BRING CHANGE to help volunteers serve you faster.
Please remember that food and drinks are STRICTLY FORBIDDEN inside the Chiles auditorium.
We would like to take this opportunity to emphasize that the ONLY requirement to be a Glimpses participant is IATLH membership; no other fees/donations are REQUIRED. However, given that Glimpses is our premier event/ fund raiser any donations to the IATLH are more than welcome and will go a long way in helping IATLH continue presenting quality programs.
Memberships turned in by Nov 7th will be included in the membership directory to be distributed at Glimpses.
Betsy Barfield Photography will be setting up a mini studio in the lobby area for professional portrait photography. Please come early if you would like to have your have your portrait done. This will be a great opportunity for participants to get professional portraits done in their costumes.
We are also making arrangements for video recording of the program. At a later time, we will provide details regarding where and when copies of the video will be available.
Please remember that all the participants and coordinators have worked very hard to put together all the items and deserve your full attention. PLEASE maintain silence during EVERY presentation.

An entertainment extravaganza, consisting of dances, songs and skits by the members of India Association and their families.
As all of us are aware, Glimpses of India has turned out to be the major attraction amongst the many activities conducted by IATLH. The Exec Committee has considered a number of factors while coming up with the following guidelines for any of the items submitted for this function:
1. Items submitted (play, song, dance, etc) should not be more than 6-7 minutes long including set up times, etc.
2. In order to encourage participation, solo items will not be accepted. While there is no minimum group size recommended, we strongly encourage items that have a minimum of 4-5 participants.
3. All participants need to be current members of IATLH at the time of submission of the item by the coordinators.
4. While we do not recommend any one type of presentation, we will encourage items that showcase the diversity of India as well as have a strong entertainment appeal to a majority of members. A program committee will be set-up to evaluate and accept submissions.
5. Glimpses of India is a family event, as such we encourage submissions that are acceptable to audiences of all age groups and ethnicities.
If you are interested in coordinating an item, please send an item description with all item details to MyIatlh@gmail.com by 10 pm, OCT 10th, 2009.
In case of any conflicts arise regarding item submission and selection, the order in which items are received at the above email will determine the final selection. Items sent to any other email id or conveyed by phone will not be accepted.
The Exec Committee (EC) and Program Committee (PC) will work diligently to accept items that are submitted and place them in a sequence (children's program will be earlier) based on guidelines set above. However, decisions taken by the EC and PC regarding program items will be final and we request that everyone abide by them.
All participant families MUST have a current (i.e. 2009) IATLH membership. Non-members can become members by filling out a membership form available at www.iatlh.org/member/membership.html and submitting the form along with the annual membership fees ($40). Coordinators are responsible for making sure that everyone who participates has paid the membership dues.*** AS ALWAYS ADMISSION IS FREE *** and there is plenty of room in the auditorium so please feel free to invite your friends and families to the show.
The India Association once again requests your participation to make this event a success. We are encouraging coordinators and/or volunteers to help us with all aspects of event planning, so please do email the executive committee (vicepresident.iatlh@gmail.com) if you are wiling to spend some time 'behind the scenes' helping us in any of the following areas:
- Stage and Program
- Logistics
