  • Daniel S. Goldin - Mr. Goldin is the Chairman and CEO of The Intellisis Corporation which is developing the next generation neurobiologically inspired computers. Previously, as NASA’s longest serving Administrator from 1992-2001, he directly served three U.S. Presidents: George H.W. Bush, William Jefferson Clinton and George W. Bush. Prior to NASA, he was the Vice President and General Manager of TRW Space and Technology Group where he oversaw programs of national priority. He began his career at NASA’s Glenn Research Center working on electric propulsion systems for interplanetary travel. Mr. Goldin serves on the Board of Directors of AOptix Technologies. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Geographic Society, a member of the National Academy of Engineering, and a member of the Scripps Institute of Oceanography Advisory Council. He is a Distinguished Fellow at the Council on Competitiveness, a Senior Fellow at the Potomac Institute, and a Fellow of the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics. He graduated from the City College of New York in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and in 1983, the UCLA Anderson School Executive Management Program.

The coffee will be held in the Wind River office in Sorrento Valley, and will start at 7AM and be done at 9AM.


At this event:

  • Our Featured Speaker will give a short talk regarding this Sector in San Diego.

  • Linden S. Blue - Since 1986, Linden Blue has been Vice Chairman of General Atomics in San Diego. At GA his primary responsibilities have included development of the advanced, second-generation, Modular Helium Reactor (MHR), coordination of activities in GA’s Washington, D.C. office, and overseeing GA’s activities at the San Diego Supercomputer Center. GA is a diversified interna­tional high technology company with world leadership positions in fusion, fission, and training research and isotope nuclear reactors. It has done leading research in unpiloted aerial vehicles for reconnaissance, high temperature superconductors, radiation monitoring, conditioning of high power electricity, thermionic power for space applications, and advanced composite materials. He is also co-founder and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Cordillera Corporation of Denver, a holding company with principal assets in real estate, gas utilities, and oil and gas production. Since 2001 he has also been Chairman and CEO of Spectrum Aeronautical, LLC a company developing an advanced business jet. He is past President of Beech Aircraft Corporation, Lear Fan Limited, and held key roles at Gates Learjet Corporation. Earlier, he served on active duty with the USAF Strategic Air Command, and was a partner in a 4000-acre cocoa and banana plantation and a 100,000-acre ranch in Nicaragua. Mr. Blue received his B.A. degree from Yale University in 1958, and is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program of the Harvard Business School.

  • Julie Meier Wright, has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation since 1997. EDC is the premier business development organization for the greater San Diego region. EDC markets the region for investment, with a focus on San Diego’s growth industries – life sciences, telecommunications, software, electronics, and defense and space – and on the public policy issues that affect the region’s competitiveness for their investment and growth, as well as works directly with companies to locate or expand in the San Diego region. Prior to coming to San Diego, Ms. Wright served as California’s first Secretary of Trade and Commerce
    and a member of Governor Pete Wilson’s Cabinet from 1991 to 1997. She led the Administration’s wide-ranging business climate reforms, built a new Agency integrating economic development programs, and expanded the state’s international role and presence, including opening five new overseas offices. In 2003, she served on gubernatorial candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Economic Recovery Council and subsequently on an Expert Review Panel for the Secretary of the Business, Transportation & Housing Agency. In 2005, she served on the Secretary of Energy’s Task Force on Math-Science Education and this year has been invited to serve on Gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman’s Economic Council.

  • Rob Hoffman is VP and GM of Wind River Aerospace and Defense. Wind River’s mission is to enable its customers to develop, run, and manage software in aerospace and defense, automotive, consumer, industrial, medical, and networking devices faster, at lower cost, and more reliably. Wind River dominates this device software optimization space, with over 50 percent of the total market, through thousands of customers that have deployed hundreds of millions of devices throughout the world’s infrastructure and in all walks of life. Mr. Hoffman is responsible for the overall strategy and execution of Wind River’s role as the dominant supplier to the defense and aerospace markets, representing over 25 percent of Wind River’s global business. Mr. Hoffman joined Wind River in 2000 as Director of Engineering Operations and then advanced to Engineering Director for certified platform development where he was responsible for Wind River's market-leading ARINC 653 offering. That product is at the heart of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, where it hosts 70 applications from over 15 avionics suppliers, and is in use on over 35 other aircraft worldwide. Mr. Hoffman moved to Sales in 2005 and became General Manager in 2006 where he has presided over growth of Wind River's aerospace and defense business by 50 percent since 2005. Prior to joining Wind River, Mr. Hoffman was US executive vice president for the leading Japanese in‑circuit emulator company, and earlier founded an embedded software development tools company. Mr. Hoffman has held a top-secret clearance, and earned BSEE and MS Computer Science degrees from the University of California Berkeley and San Diego.
