Both speakers were difficult to hear for audience seated more than a few feet away. Speakers should use a 'public voice,' should address the whole room. Speak a little slower and clearer, and from the diaphragm -- and don't trail off at the end of sentences.

AIA-SWO Election Day and A&AA Faculty Research Projects

Our November meeting will include the important AIA-SWO Chapter Bylaws amendment referendum, as well as our 2010 Chapter Board officers election (read the November AIA-SWO President's Message for more information).

In addition, the meeting will also feature presentations by members of the University of Oregon School of Architecture & Allied Arts faculty about their current projects. The University is an extraordinary asset and a powerful resource for those of us in the design profession. Remarkable research work is being conducted at the school. The program will include presentations about some of these research efforts from several of the A&AA faculty members themselves, highlighting advances in architectural theory, technology and solutions to global challenges for the built environment.
