Thank you, Judi, for putting so much heart into the retreat service, it was serenely beautiful. And, Father Daly, thank you for making the time to prepare such a thoughtful service and transforming a routine morning into a reflective spiritual journey, it was a wonderful gift.

I am thankful that I was invited by Judi to the retreat which was such an educational event regarding the value of both silent reflection and a complete review of the full value of the lenten period. It was an inspiring experience shared with many Marin Catholic parents, past and present. Our family MC graduates are Jennie Halverson Noerr(past) the Mother of our two MC young men, Andrew(current) and Peter(freshman next fall). Father Daly, who in my bigoted view is my inspirational Catholic leader both as head of MC and as a Mass presenter and a fireside chat reconciliation performer. May we sefishly never lose his leadship. Jesus really Shines brighter for me after this experience!

Thank you Father Daly and Judi for a wonderful time of reflection. I am inspired to find that quiet time each day. With regard to the hummingbird, a little research shows that in many traditional cultures of the western world the hummingbird has powerful religious and spiritual significance. In the high Andes of South America, for example, the hummingbird is taken to be a symbol of resurrection. Perhaps it was a message sent for us at this beginning of Lent to be hopeful of the resurrection to come.

Thank you also Rachel for planning the event, and Father Daly I can listen to you all day. I wonder if the humming bird was Jesus' way of testing our abilities to listen in light of distractions that we face in our every day lives. I enjoyed the solitutde and reflection time and realized I need to plan this time. I also realized how true and disturbing it is that our sons and daughters are always plugged in, and I wonder when they ever find time to experience silence and tune into prayer.

Let Your Light Shine

Please Join the Marin Catholic community February 17, 2010 for our Ash Wednesday Mass and Spirituality Retreat. Come together in fellowship as we prepare for the Lenten season. We will begin the day by celebrating Mass with Father Daly and the school community in the gymnasium. Then, Father Daly will lead us in prayer and reflection in the chapel.

There will also be a simple soup and bread lunch served after the retreat as a fundraiser for OXFAM. OXFAM day allows students, staff and parents to eat a lighter lunch of soup, provided by student & staff volunteers. All proceeds will benefit OXFAM Haiti. The suggested cash donation is $4.00 or what you wish to give.

When you RSVP please indicate in the 'Add a comment' section if you will join us through lunch, or for only certain parts.

1) Mass in GYM

2) Prayer and reflection in the Chapel

3) Oxfam soup lunch in Pope John Paul II Student Center

Please RSVP by Thursday , February 11th. On campus parking will be limited so please try to carpool if possible. Thank you.
