Vempati Srivalli Sarma, a well trained classical musician, quite popular in the musical circles in Andhra Pradesh, is currently visiting USA and has consented to perform for the Indian community in Tallahassee on July 12th at 3 pm at the Covenant Presbyterian Church. During her trip, she will be performing at San Jose, Kansas City, Houston and Austin Tx, Jacksonville FL, and Melbourne FL.

About Smt. Vempati Srivalli Sarma

Training:

Srivalli Sarma has started learning music since her childhood. Starting under the Sri E.Nagaraju in Hyderabad Music College, she learnt music under renowned senior artists like Sri P.Kuppuswamy and Sri Kollegal Subrahmanyam of Hyderabad. After getting her Diploma in Music with Distinction, she received advanced training under Maha Mahopadhyaya Dr Nookala China Satyanarayana garu for about 10 years. As a child, she was an active participant in every cultural event in Hyderabad area and has won innumerable number of prizes in music competitions conducted by reputed organizations like AIR, Doordarshan, Rotary Club and Lion's club and has given several concerts as a child, often taking her audiences by surprise with the maturity she was exhibiting in improvisations. In addition to music, during eariler years, Srivalli has learnt dance from Guru Sri Vempati China Satyam and Smt Shobha Naidu.

Performances:

As a matured as a musician, Srivalli Sarma has given hundreds of concerts all over AP. She has won laurels for her concert at "Sri Purandara Dasa Sangeeta Vidyalayam" at Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. Srivalli has travelled far and wide, and her performance at "Stockholm Re-orient Festival" in 1997 has been applauded by international audiences. In addition to success as a solo artist, she is a household name among the Kuchipudi dance groups in Andhra Pradesh. Srivalli has lent her voice to over 2000 dance performances by popular artists from Twin Cities and has travelled far and wide. Sponsored by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), she has toured Botswana, Tanzania, Mozambizue, Swaziland, Zamzibar Islands.

Composer:

Being deeply associated with Dance, she has composed music for over a dozen Kuchipudi Dance ballets like Pranaya Varudhini, Sarvanga Shankara, Maa Telugu Talliki, Swarnotsava Bharati, Yashodha Krishna, Amrapali, Rukmini Kalyanam, Chenchitha Parinayam, Sankranthi Lakshmi, Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwari, Menaka Vishwamitra, Shabari Girisha etc. Magna Sound India has released a music album on Bhakta Ramadasa Keerthanalu, for which she was the composer too. She has composed music for and released another album "Sri Devi Sankeertanam" for which lyrics were given by Sri Samavedam Shanmuga Sarma.

General:

Srivalli was very successful in maintaining a perfect balance between musical career, professional career as a Telcom officer, as a home maker, and as a mother of a one very enterprising and successful daughter who is about graduate in Computer Sciences and Engineering. She is aspiring to be a world famous musician while maintaining her responsibilities to her family.
