Team Hercule Poirot (HP) has been on long-term hiatus. Time for a comeback! Just found out that Brainstormer is kicking off a Bay Area-wide Grand Pub Quiz tournament TONIGHT. The Monaghan's league is every Monday night for a 7 weeks. The teams that accumulate the most number of points qualify for the finals, where there'll be over $1000 in prizes. WooHoo!
A bit of background: Chet Carey was the captain of Team Hiccups, and out of hundreds of teams competing around the Bay Area last year during the league tournament, they qualified for the Championships and placed 6th out of 36 (WooHoo!!) Chet's the one who first told me about Monaghan's, so he's sort of the Professor Emeritus of Hercule Poirot and we've decided to team up and pool our grey cells for a winning combo.
BTW, because they didn't advertise the start of league play very well, we'll probably get a big jump on the competition by merely showing up tonight since Championship qualification is dependent on total # of points earned...
