I am inviting you to join me at a focused VIP networking event that I am hosting. I will be supplying coffee, fruit, bagels, danish & juice to help you wake up and prepare for the day.   • Other stuff that the room wants to talk about

The coffee will be held in the Wind River office in Sorrento Valley, and will start at 7AM and be done at 9AM.


At this event:

  • There will be time to meet 30-40 other interesting local VIPs, Entrepreneurs, CEOs & Founders of high profile San Diego technology firms all focused in this space. (during the networking time)
  • There will be an opportunity for 10-15 of the attendees to introduce their backgrounds and Android projects to the room. (Marco will select the projects / people who will be introduced to the room)
  • There will be a short presentation (5 minutes) from our meeting host, Wind River
  • There will be prepared introductory remarks by each of our panelists.
  • There will be a rmoderated oundtable conversation regarding any of the issues listed above that the roundtable audience wants to talk about...

The coffee will begin at 7:00 AM, but feel free to arrive by 7:15 if 7:00 presents a problem for your morning routine.The coffee event will be held at my office at Wind River Services. The address is 9855 Scranton Rd.

Full Biographies of our Panelists:

  • Dr. Cheuk Chan, is senior vice president of engineering, CORE client products, at PacketVideo. His team is responsible for PV's CORE and OpenCORE products, which is the multimedia framework for Android. He joined PV in 1998 as one of the original members of the engineering team and helped CEO James Brailean establish the company. Prior to joining PV, Dr. Chan was on the staff of PAR Government Systems in La Jolla, working on real-time target detection and tracking algorithms for advanced IR, multispectral, and imaging sensors. Cheuk Chan received a bachelor of science, summa cum laude, from Tulane University and a master of science and doctorate of philosophy in electrical engineering from Northwestern University.

  • Jason Bremner has been actively involved in the wireless industry for over twelve years. Today he leads the multimedia, Windows Mobile and Android product divisions within Qualcomm. Bremner has helped shape Qualcomm into a market leading multimedia company as well as becoming the premier silicon platform provider for Windows Mobile and Android devices globally. He began his career with Sony Wireless and built the Canadian division for CDMA handsets. Since then he has held several executive positions within Sony USA and Packetvideo. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Dalhousie University, Canada.

  • Egil Gronstad, As Vice President of Technology Planning for Leap Wireless International Inc., Egil Gronstad is responsible for overseeing and directing the Company’s technology planning function. Prior to joining Leap, Mr. Gronstad was Vice President of Product Line Management for Ericsson Wireless Communications Inc. in San Diego. In this capacity, he was responsible for planning and life cycle management of Ericsson’s global CDMA2000 infrastructure solutions offering. Before Ericsson Wireless Communications, Mr. Gronstad held various managerial positions in Product Marketing, Product Management and Technical Sales Support of TDMA network infrastructure solutions for Ericsson Inc. in Richardson TX. Mr. Gronstad started his career as a software and systems designer for GSM network equipment and has twenty years of experience in the wireless telecommunications industry. Mr. Gronstad is a graduate of University of California, Santa Barbara, where he received his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

  • David Tokunaga, David Tokunaga is a veteran in the mobile industry with more than 15 years experience. He currently serves as the Director of Technology Marketing for Nokia's CDMA device group. Tokunaga's team is responsible for setting technology strategy for devices by evaluating new services and technologies. Previous to Nokia, Tokunaga held marketing and product management roles at Sprint PCS, Geoworks and Neopoint. He led the deployment of the first location-based mobile phone service in North America as well as launched the first mobile commerce marketing service in the U.S. He holds several patents in mobile advertising and user interface control. Tokunaga is a member of the National University Master's in Wireless Communication Advisory Board and is co-chair of CDG's Global Handset Requirements for CDMA (GHRC). Tokunaga holds a MBA from Brunel University London, England.
