Hi, I was able to access my event without creating a profile through the email invitation. After the host (my husband) sent an email last night to give a reminder to everyone, I can't access the event without creating a profile (through the email). The host swears he didn't change anything. It's a big pain to have all our guests need to create a profile now just to access the event.

I noticed other people reporting this issue as well. Perhaps you can't recreate it because an email out needs to be sent first to 'lock' the event?

If you already have registered and created an account (which you have), you will be asked for your password when clicking on the event link. People without an account will not be asked to create one. Thu 10/1/09

I only created an account so I can post this issue. I never had to to access our event before. I didn't have an account and I was asked to create one to view the event today, but didn't have to yesterday. I made my husband change the event to public so that our guests wouldn't have to create a profile Thu 10/1/09

OK understood, but guests definitely don't have to create an account to RSVP. I'm guessing that perhaps you or your husband gave people the URL of this private event without inviting them using Socializr, which provides them with a special link with a code that allows a non-member to view a private event. This is ridiculous. Clearly you don't want to investigate. I am a guest. My husband created the invite. I used the link in the email previously and was able to access the RSVP WITHOUT creating a profile. After he sent an email to all guests (I am one of them), I was unable AS A GUEST to look at the invitation (using the same link in the same email I had before) without creating an email. I only had one email invitation so I didn't mistake it.

This is more now for those who have the same problem - don't bother, just make it public and if you don't want to make it public, just use evite - more people have accounts there anyways so don't have to go through the trouble of creating a profile with socializr when you don't want to.

Phoebe, I'm sorry you are having problems. Socializr does not require guests to create an account to view an invitation or RSVP, and thousands of people who are not members view invitations and RSVP every day. I would love to investigate your problem but I need more information to do so. Without knowing more, the guess I posted earlier is the most likely explanation I have as to why I think you were required to create an account to look at the invitation. If someone who is not a member is invited via the 'Invite People' feature on Socializr, they receive a link via email with a special code that allows them to view the private invitation for them. This is exactly the same way that Evite works. Wed 10/14/09
