I have a yearly event to promote. The problem I have is, not knowing which email addresses are good or who doesn't want this event emailed to them.
When I evite the people in my database, what I'd like to do would be to update that evite list and elimate the block and/or bad email addresses so I have a 'current', updated address list for next time. Is there anyway to do this? What happens, is when I copy that evite list to use on the next year's event, it's still a list of all the bad email addresses and not an updated, current list. Does this make sense what I am asking? Also, I have a New Year's Eve party and have over 500 names to email. Once again, some of these may be bad email addresses and some may not want the evite, having been emailed a year ago, only once. Is there a way I can do this one-time mailing and not get in trouble with you guys if I have a lot of regections, due to old or unwanted email returned? I think my database is around 750 email addresses at this time. Thanx. Socializr is what I recommend to anyone who has issues with other similar sites, like E-VITE, which I find horrible. |

Hi M!
If you find Evite as horrible as most of us around here do, you might want to train yourself to say 'invitations' and 'events' instead of evite... I manage about the same number of addresses you do, though my events are several time a month. Currently I keep people in my 'main' Socializr Address Book. If I get a blocked notification for anyone, I immediately move them to another list and don't send them any more invitations using Socializr. Of course, you can only do this for those who choose not to anonymously block. I suspect I repeatedly invite two people who have me blocked but Socializr doesn't inform me to quit using their addresses. I think if I was facing your once a year situation, I would import addresses from wherever you keep your current list, and not bother with the Socializr Address Book. You could import everyone to your Address Book, but it seems like you would be better of just importing everyone for the particular invitation you are issuing. Just use the 'Import Email Addresses' button rather than the 'Use Address Book' button. You can also contact people outside of Socializr with a link to the invitation, such as using outside email, posting the link on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, etc. They can RSVP by entering their email address. Then you don't have to worry about Socializr mistaking you for a spammer. Socializr and most of its infrastructure are very sweet if you're issuing invitations to events regularly, but it sounds like you're case is kind of special. We'll see what the developers suggest when they get time to look through these forums. Good luck! Karl |
