After playing more than 3 hours on the site, I finally have to give up...
After a year of development or even more I believe, this site is plain unusable: 1) no recurring event 2) feed updates not working 3) friend and invitee concepts are poorly defined 4) width of the site too narrow 5) fonts are small 6) etc... Disappointing... Wishing you the best. |

Hi Parham,
Thanks for your feedback. We welcome all points of view about the site- both positive and negative. Let me take stab at responding to each of your points: 1) Recurring events- This is a feature we are working on which will be ready very soon. If you have other features you'd like to see, please let us know and we will consider them. 2) Feed updates not working- Which feed updates aren't working for you? If you look at my profile you can see all but twitter are working as expected. We all know that twitter has experienced a great deal of down time the last few months- some things are beyond our control. 3) Friend/Invitee concepts- Can you elaborate a bit more on why this seemed poorly defined? We would like to have a better understanding of why you were so confused. 4) Site width too narrow- Too narrow for what? Many of the most popular web properties today use the same width (Facebook, for example). 5) Font sizes- Perhaps you could tell us which fonts need to be made larger. We are certainly open to reviewing our font size choices. Thanks for taking the time to check out Socializr, and again, thanks for the feedback. Cheers, Larry |

Hi Larry,
It's a good sign that you took the time reply to my post! Socializr can really grow and attract Meetup users since they started to charge people from 72 to 240 $/year. * Basic recurring events. The current workaround, copying an event, is not good because if you add people to your event in time, you have to do so manually to all of those recurring events. I'm glad you are working on it. * Well, I don't have the time to reproduce that right now, but I have invited 2 people, both accepted me but I don?t see them in my friends list. I was with them when they accepted it. * Invited a person to an event, the person accepted it but he is not in my friend. The fine line between 'a friend' and 'an invitee' is not clear to a user. * Facebook is not a good example. Facebook will go that route soon because of the information overload. It's just a matter of time. Plus, Facebook is completely international and they need to accommodate smaller screens at 800. Most properties are at 950px. I assume most if not all of your users have at least 1280 screens. They have 480px of white space left and right. When talking community, one should always think about Yelp and MySpace. Both at 950px. * My font comment is kind of personal. Now that you brought up Facebook, I think they are using very small font as well but they can support that decision with their demographics. Just to let you know, I have been trying more than 6 web apps for my 10-people soccer event. And unfortunately I have to continue with Yahoo groups which is old and ugly... but it works. The duo concept of social and event should be thought ground up. My last comment is on the sign up process. Every single company wants to expand their users but by pushing 4 times, during the sign up process, so I invite my friends, I think it's too much. By default, the nature of your website is a community driven website. Users might feel a bit pushed. Wishing the best for Socializr... |
