In addition to an invitation tool, it strikes me that Socializer could be used to send email newsletters. I started experimenting with it a little, but decided that the header information would be too confusing (Time, Location, etc.) because it wouldn't be relevant. Would it really be that much of a stretch to make the appropriate adaptations to create a socializr tool for and e-newsletter?
On a related note, it would be cool if multiple socializr invitations could be sent in such an e-newsletter. That way an organization could send out a calendar without sending each event in a separate email. In response to a comment that was made about how there is too much info in the body of the email, I don't think that e-vite is the model to follow. If socializr doesn't make it clear that people need click on a link to RSVP, I would prefer that the problem were not solved by following the evite model, which forces people to click on a link to see anything. Finally, I am using 'organization' as a way of classifying events (event, meeting, volunteer opportunity etc.). It's not ideal because of the limitations around the way headings are displayed on the website etc. It would be nice if this were a touch more flexible. For an example, see www.progressivecaucus.net/calendar.asp |

I agree, it would nice to accept or decline right in the email if possible. |

I agree, e-mail newsletters would be WAY helpful. Socializr already has the address book thing, but as an event planner (and guy who runs several e-mail lists which are solely lists of upcoming events), it would be so awesome if Socializr could make this easier.
Here's an example of what I'm doing currently... - Create individual events on Socializr - Add everyone to my address book - Maintain the same e-mail list in my own e-mail client - Send e-mail with hyperlinks to all the Socializr events (which I have to send with my own e-mail client) So I have to keep the e-mail lists in sync, and with my e-mail client I can only send-out an e-mail to like 50 people at a time, etc. |
