One extremely nice feature of e-vite is that the sending e-mail address is still your e-mail address, rather than something like 'hey@socializr.com' This helps with spamming issues, etc. and makes people more likely to open the invitation... is this something that could be added or an option? This is really important; I second this suggestion. Sun 11/18/07

I used Socializer for the first time two weeks ago. Sent an invite to 240 people. To date, 74% of invitees have not viewed the invite.

At least one person found it in her spam filter, and I'm wondering whether the message from hey@mail.socializr.com was also blocked for the remaining 176 people...

The sending address really needs to be the user's email address.

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions, however, your analysis of our competitor is inaccurate- they do not use the event host's email address as the sending address. They do, however, use the event host's email address as the 'Reply-to'.

Our functionality is identical. If you hit 'Reply' to an emailed socializr event invitation you will see the event host's email address show up in the 'To' line of your reply message.

There are technical reasons why using the host's email address as the sending address is not feasible- the biggest of which involves the possibility of security on the user's sending domain that restricts who can send mail on the domain's behalf.

Our emai delivery is actually great, and you can view detailed event statistics or track your guest responses if you click Event Statistics, and you will see that your invitations are being received. Unfortunately if we use your personal email as the sending email, that would probably trigger spam filters because the IP and DNS of the sending email server would not match up with the email address. It would essentially be email 'spoofing'. But we put your name in as the sender and your email address as the reply-to, just like other similar service. Wed 4/9/08
