"It all started with coffee. During the summer of 2008, several members of the Phoenix, AZ web creative community began using social networking tools like Twitter and Facebook to organize coffee meetups and ?tweetups? on Friday nights to wind down after a long hard week. Before long, what started as a handful of people over coffee evolved into a traveling migration of many over dinner, drinks, and entertainment. And so began #pfn.
At some point a few members of the #wvfn crowd (a west-valley offshoot of the original #pfn crowd) found themselves relocating to Northeast Rural Oklahoma, a place where it seemed the internet had not yet reached. Of course, out here the workweek is a little different, and so is the relaxation required at the end of it, not to mention everyone being just a leeeetle bit farther apart. So naturally, the Oklahoma version of an ?fn? has to evolve as well.
Introducing #okiefn - Simply put, it?s a way of sharing our Friday night experiences with each other, whether online or off. This can be at a coffee shop, theater, bar, restaurant, or even your house! How do you get involved? Visit http://okiefn.com to find out!"
