"Art night was super sweet for me tonight . There were eight people, all really engaged in their art. Anne was working with a very cool 'loom' that used stones to braid textile fibers which she then was making into a sling shot. Roger was carving soap stone to then use as a mold for hot metal in an effort to replicate a piece of metal artifact that shows an ancient bird design. Catherine worked on a gorgeous collage she's been creating in George Sakal's collaging class. Julia worked on vibrant signs for the kids' space for upcoming Disco Night. Judi worked with her very cool Ott light on another beautiful needlepoint piece. Alice did a very cool design with fabric paint on her jeans to wear to Disco Night. Blogger Cate of the Cate Chronicals came and joined us for the first time which was very sweet. A true testament to the power of social technology. I saw her blog on hocoblogs and read about her current knitting project. So I grabbed her email address and sent her a socializr invite to Art Night telling her that she might enjoy it. And lo and behold, she came! I notice that she was working on the blanket that she blogged about - http://catechronicles.blogspot.com/2008/06/embarrassment-of-stitches.html. Cate, I hope you come back again. It was nice to have you. And I worked on the Disco Night dance and fashion contest trophies. So if you come to Disco Night and enter the contest, you may be the big winner of one of them! Anyway, it was a great time for me. Thanks everyone. Hope to see you guys next month. And really looking forward to seeing many of you at Disco Night and the rest of the 40th weekend's activities."
